Co-owners and co-founders Don Poffenroth and Kent Fleischmann left their 9-to-5 corporate jobs, and in their words - `created a company because we didn’t have to go to a company again, and created liquor so we didn’t have to pay for liquor again’. They founded Dry Fly Distilling in a historic bus depot in the year 2007, the first distillery in the State of Washington since the prohibition.
Their shared passion for two things – fly fishing and spirits, and an early morning at the Gallatin River inspired them to start this distillery together and dedicate themselves to pure craft spirits.
This farm-to-bottle distillery sources all the ingredients locally and from sustainable farms and prides itself in reflecting the beauty of both in nature and fly-fishing of the Pacific Northwest.
50.5% Abv - 700ml
The first batch that comprised of 480 bottles where sold out of the distillery door within hours. It was the first legal bourbon ever made in the state of Washington. Featuring 60% corn (grown by the local Hutterian Settlement), 20% wheat, and 20% barley mash bill and aged in 53-gallon barrels for a minimum of 3 years, this expression carries strong corn notes.
Tasting Notes: Caramel, vanilla, oak, honey notes and the corn sweetness tease the nose. The palate is creamy with vanilla flavors and opens into beautiful spices. This sweet and spicy finish lingers and the overall complexity and sophistication of the young bourbon is truly remarkable.
